Year-Round Tourism Through Golf
BODRUM - Turkish Daily News
The “Tourism Living Quarter” project, Turkey’s biggest tourism investment to be established on the Bodrum-Milas road on a plot spanning 9,150 acres, will be undertaken with the initiative of the A?ao?lu Group and Net Holding.
As part of this project a golf course, hotel, apartment hotels and training centers will be constructed. The first part, expected to be complete within two years, will include the golf course, golf hotel, club building, villas and apartment hotels. The international standards golf course will be established on 670 acres of land.
A golf player spends around 150 euros per day if taking into account the balls, course charges, meals and beverages,? said Can Pulak, Net Holding Administrative Board member, commenting on the economic aspects of the project. ?In addition, they pay around 200 euros per day for the hotel. That is to say in a complex facility a golf player will spend around 350 euros per day. There are hotels in Bodrum for 15-20 euros per day. Considering this, we think it will contribute a lot to tourism in the region as tourists will not only stay in the hotel but also go out for shopping and entertainment. Its contribution will exceed expectations.?
Commenting on the large number of hotels closing during the winter season, Pulak said this project will help to prevent this by attracting tourists all year round. Stating that instead of cutting they will plant trees on their lot, Pulak said they spent $10 million for developing the greenery.
